Summer this year was pretty busy for us, from Kylie being born to family vacations and getting to see friends from long ago, not to mention cloth diapering two little ones! August has brought more laundry than I have ever done in my entire life...WHEW!
Every August we go on a vacation with Kyle's family to Central Oregon. In years past we've gone to Eagle Crest, but this year we went to Sunriver. I hadn't been to Sunriver since I was about 10 so it was fun to go back and experience it all over again, this time with 7 kids under one roof :)
It was definitely a stretch for me as a mom to let loose a little and let Isla explore and play. Although I must say that I am far from the worrywart I once was, I still struggle with certain fears regarding my kids. One part of letting go on vacation was allowing Isla to master climbing the stairs in the rental house. We have fairly modest home, one that does not contain stairs, so I've managed to avoid this issue for almost 2 years now...until vacation. Isla of course did great. Actually, her only injuries during the week involved walking-yes, she seems to be as coordinated in walking as me-and one time she did fall off a step as she was obediently following directions. She caught herself with her face on the concrete. Poor thing. It was actually kind of a funny fall and I had to refrain from laughing since she did get hurt, but she handled it like the tough cookie she is and didn't cry at all.
A picture of the whole family...
Just ask Isla to say "cheese" and this is the face you will get...
