Gosh golly

Geeeezzz! What can I say? I have no excuse for being so horribly unreliable when it comes to updating our family blog. Maybe it's because I have been busying myself so the days pass quickly. I'm crazy-anxious about the arrival of our new baby :) I would have thought the second time around would be somewhat of a "been there done that" sort of thing, but not so much. I can't wait to be a mama of two little ones, for Isla to be a big sister, and for Kyle to share his wonderful daddy skills with another sweet baby.

Maybe I've also been preoccupied because my best friend, Justine, is coming to visit, FINALLY!!!! It has been two years since I last saw her, she still has yet to meet Isla. Time sure flies these days. We were inseparable in high school and now we have gone two entire years living several time zones apart. Sad.

So what's new in our life...we finally took Isla to the zoo :) She had an absolute blast! That silly girl loves animals more than most. Side story: we were outside at Kyle's brother's house recently where Isla was playing with her cousins when all of a sudden she just booked it. Kyle and I chased her to see where she was going and when we saw her we just started laughing. Isla had seen the neighbor's dog, a very large German shepherd she had never met before, and ran as fast as she could to go give the dog a kiss. Most parents have to teach their kids to ask before petting an animal they don't know. I guess we will have to give Isla this lesson along with one on kissing strange animals :)

Back to the zoo...I'm not sure who had more fun zoo, us or Isla. Isla's favorite was definitely the zebra and her least favorite was the polar bear. She was cool with the polar bear until he decided to swim up to the glass. I can't really blame her though, that guy was huge!!!

The guy on the bottom right didn't seem to be having a great day. He kind of looked dead in all of our pictures.

And here's Isla after she crashed in the car shortly after we left.

All in all, June seems to have been a month of celebrating for our family: Kyle and I celebrated our 5th anniversary, followed by Kyle's second Father's Day, and I quietly celebrated my 10th anniversary of becoming a Christian :) It's been an amazing 10 years and one exciting lesson I've been learning most recently is that God's not done with me yet. I may have had quite the transformation when I gave my life to Him, but there are many places He has yet to take me and many lessons to be learned. I can hardly wait :)
